Offered by Algonquin College, a RECO-approved education provider.

COMING SOON: Intake will begin in fall 2025.

Take Your Real Estate Business to the Next Level!

Advance your real estate career with our Real Estate Broker Program. This program is developed by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) and is intended for experienced salespersons who want to manage, open, or take ownership of a brokerage. Learners will build business management and leadership skills while gaining the regulatory knowledge needed to oversee real estate transactions and ensure compliance within a brokerage.

Program Benefits

Aligned with RECO’s registration requirements

Fully online, flexible delivery model with instructor-led components

Real-world scenarios and simulations to build applied leadership skills

Eligibility

This program is open to registered real estate agents who have completed the pre-registration program and post-registration programs from RECO’s designated education providers (or the now-defunct Salesperson Registration Education Program offered by OREA Real Estate College up to 2021).

Program Path

Step 1: Broker Qualifying Exam
To begin the Real Estate Broker Program, learners must first pass the Broker Qualifying Exam. This three-hour, theory-based exam evaluates a learner’s foundational knowledge of real estate trading practices in Ontario and confirms their readiness to enter the program.

Step 2: eLearning Courses
Once the qualifying exam is successfully completed, learners proceed through a series of four self-paced online courses. Each course takes approximately 10 hours to complete.

  • Course 1: Planning and Start-Up
  • Course 2: Business Management
  • Course 3: Human Resources
  • Course 4: Ongoing Oversight

Each course builds on the knowledge and responsibilities required to operate and manage a brokerage effectively.

Step 3: Wrap-Up Session – Bringing It All Together
This mandatory two-day, instructor-led session provides learners the opportunity to apply their learning through practical case studies and simulated broker responsibilities. It reinforces regulatory compliance, business operations, and leadership practices in a brokerage.

Step 4: Final Broker Exam
After completing all courses and the wrap-up session, learners must write and pass the final broker exam. Successful completion qualifies learners to apply for broker registration with RECO.

Exam Info

Both exams in this program are administered by RECO’s designated examination provider, Meazure Learning. An exam fee of $120 is payable to Meazure Learning at the time of each exam registration.

Once you have successfully applied online with Algonquin College and paid your non-refundable application fee, you will be given access to schedule your qualifying exam via Meazure Learning’s website within three business days.

Course Fees

Learners pay for each course individually online via credit card as they progress through the program. The cost of the entire Real Estate Broker Program is approximately $1,580. Actual costs may vary depending on individual progress through the program—for example, learners who do not pass an exam on the first attempt may incur additional exam and course fees.
