Real Estate Salesperson Program

1. Learn the Requirements for Registered Real Estate Agents in Ontario

Review all the RECO requirements for becoming a real estate agent in Ontario.

Note: These requirements don’t necessarily prevent you from enrolling in our courses, but you will need to meet the criteria when registering with RECO after completing the Pre-registration Phase of the program.

2. Understand the Program’s Learning Path

Understand what courses you need and how they fit together by reviewing the program’s learning path. This will help you plan your learning schedule.

3. Read the Program Directives

Make sure you’re familiar with the Algonquin College Real Estate Program Directives before applying.

4. Gather What You Need

Before you begin your application, make sure you have the following:

  • New Students: Academic documents showing your high school education and/or English language proficiency. See acceptable documents
  • Transfer Students: Contact your current training provider to obtain a transcript of completed courses and exams.
  • Students with an Education Equivalency Decision (EEA): Submit your EEA decision letter along with your application. You must also include the acceptable documents required for new students to demonstrate that you meet the current program’s admission requirements.
  • $125 non-refundable application fee (accepted payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, Visa Debit, Mastercard Debit, Google Pay, Apple Pay) is required by all applicants.

5. Create Your Account with Algonquin College as your Training Provider

New Students who do not have a RECO MyWeb Account:

  • Register with RECO by clicking the “Create My Account” button below. You will be redirected to RECO’s MyWeb portal. Click “Sign Up” under First Time Users and enter your information. You must include your full legal name as shown on your ID. Submit by clicking the green “Sign Up” button. 
  • After you have signed up, you will receive a confirmation email from RECO. Click the link in the email to verify your MyWeb account.  
  • Log-in to the MyWeb portal, go to “Dashboard” and click on “Sign up for Education Courses” and select Algonquin College as your education provider.  
  • On the “Learner Setup” page, enter your date of birth and click “Submit”. You will be redirected back to the Algonquin College website. 
  • Create an Algonquin College account by filling in the required information. You will receive an email to verify your email address. 
  • Once you have verified your email address, log-in to our website and go to “My Applications” page. Click “Start Application” for the Real Estate Salesperson Program. 

If you already have a RECO MyWeb Account and want to enroll at Algonquin College:  

  • Log in to your MyWeb account here.  
  • Once logged in, navigate to your “Dashboard” and click on the “Education” tab at the top of the page. 
    • Salesperson Program: To transfer to Algonquin College from another education provider, click the “Education programs” link in the side bar section under “Education information”. 
    • Post-Registration Salesperson Program: Click on “Enroll for Post-Registration/Broker”.  
  • Select “Algonquin College” as your education provider.  
  • On the “Learner Setup” page, enter your date of birth and click “Submit”. You will be redirected back to the Algonquin College website. 
  • Create an Algonquin College account by filling in the required information. You will receive an email to verify your email address.  
  • Once you have created your Algonquin account, log-in to our website and go to “My Applications” page. Click “Start Application” for the Real Estate Salesperson Program.

What Happens Next?

After you have completed Step 5 above, you can start your application.

  1. Make sure you’re logged into your Algonquin College Real Estate Training account, then start your application in the “My Applications” tab.
  2. Upload your required academic documentation.
  3. Agree to the Program Directives and Terms & Conditions.
  4. Pay the non-refundable application fee.

After You Apply

  • We’ll review your application within 3 business days.
  • If there’s an issue with your application, we’ll contact you.
  • Once approved, you’ll receive access to purchase Course 1.
  • After payment, we’ll enroll you in our Learning Management System (Brightspace) within 3 business days.

Real Estate Broker Program

1. Learn the Requirements for Registered Real Estate Brokers in Ontario

Review all the RECO requirements for becoming a real estate broker in Ontario.

2. Meet the Real Estate Broker Program Eligibility Requirements

In order to be admitted to the Broker Program, learners must:

  • Be registered as a salesperson with RECO and employed as a salesperson for at least 24 of the 36 months immediately preceding the date of the application.
  • Have successfully completed the Real Estate Salesperson Program with an authorized training provider.

Applicants who completed the Salesperson Program with the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) College must provide proof of completion of the Real Estate Law and Commercial Transactions courses. Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to accept broker applications from learners who have not yet completed those courses.

Applicants who completed their salesperson training outside of Ontario will need to have successfully completed RECO’s Interprovincial Challenge Exam.

3. Understand the Program’s Learning Path

Understand what courses you need and how they fit together by reviewing the Broker program’s learning path. This will help you plan your learning schedule.

4. Read the Program Directives

Make sure you’re familiar with the Algonquin College Real Estate Program Directives and RECO’s policies before applying. Please note that there is a 100% attendance requirement for the Broker Final Wrap-Up Session.

5. Log In / Create Your Account and Start Your Application

Current Algonquin College Real Estate Students: Log into your account and go to “My Applications.” Click on “Start Application” for the Real Estate Broker Program.

Real Estate Agents New to Algonquin College:

  • Log in to your MyWeb account here.  
  • Once logged in, navigate to your “Dashboard” and click on the “Education” tab at the top of the page. Click on “Enroll for Post-Registration/Broker”.  
  • Select “Algonquin College” as your education provider.  
  • On the “Learner Setup” page, enter your date of birth and click “Submit”. You will be redirected back to the Algonquin College website. 
  • Create an Algonquin College account by filling in the required information. You will receive an email to verify your email address.  
  • Once you have created your Algonquin account, log-in to our website and go to “My Applications” page. Click “Start Application” for the Real Estate Broker Program.

6. Take Your Broker Qualifying Exam

Once you have been admitted into the program, you will be given access to take your Broker Qualifying Exam (BQE) from the “My Learning Path” page.

You will gain access to Broker Qualifying Exams Study Guides before you book their exam. The link is included in the BQE product description page in the Meazure Learning platform.

You will also receive a link to the materials in the confirmation email for both remote and test centre bookings. Make sure to schedule your exam far enough in advance to allow for a thorough review of the materials. Once you have passed the exam, you will be given access to purchase Course 1.
